I have seen Awl (Awareness Lens) for quite some time. It is an app developed by the University of Toronto to assist in learning about the World. The app is meant to help you visualize what you are seeing in your world and what you would like to see next.
Awl is really good at making you more aware of what you are seeing. I don’t know if this is a good thing, or a bad thing, but I have personally found it to be very helpful in helping me make sense of my surroundings. When I notice a light in the sky, for example, I see that. When I notice a bright red glow in the sky, I realize that is a glow from a gas leak or power outage.
Awl is a visual metaphor for visual thinking. Visualizing the world helps us come to terms with our surroundings. But it is more than that. When you are Awl, you are taking your time and slowing down to appreciate the things you see. You are using your brain to slow down and appreciate your surroundings. To make sense of the beauty and the beauty of the world around you. To slow down enough to appreciate the little things that make your beautiful.
Awl is also visual imagery of a moment in time. It is a time of great celebration – where something is given it’s due and all is right with the world. It’s a time of joy and happiness. Where there is a sense of security and a sense that things are going to be okay.
I have a little something in my collection that I keep as a reminder of awl. This is a collection of pictures of various things I see and am surrounded by in my life. It’s a sort of visual diary of my life as a whole. They’re not always the things I see, but I like them as a reminder.

I’d hazard a guess that most people can create an awl without even knowing what an awl is. I say that because as I said, most people just use a hammer. So anyone can create an awl with a hammer.
