The definition of self-aware is that the self is aware of your actions, habits, and processes, and can adjust accordingly depending on the situation. When I’m on a plane and I’m walking in the morning, I’m aware of my actions, habits, and processes and I can adjust accordingly.
This definition of self-awareness is a little different. It’s a little more complex. It’s not just a matter of “I notice I’m wearing black pants.” It’s a matter of “I notice I’m wearing my black pants.
There is also a difference between self-awareness and self-awareness plus awareness. The two terms are very often used interchangeably.

When you begin to take a “break” from routine, even for a few days, you can start to see the effects right away. As a result, you can begin to recognize that the change is not permanent, and this is the reason why you have to start changing the pattern right away. It’s also why you need to try to break into habits, rather than trying to break habits.
